Bearing Fruit explores the use and meaning of the "fruit" metaphor in the Bible. God initiated this metaphor with His command in the Garden to "be fruitful and multiply". God's intent was to fill the earth with men and women who were His image bearers. Unfortunately, Adam and Eve chose to disobey God and His image bearers were now marred by sin. Noah is the next person to receive this command after God purged man's wickedness using the Flood. Finally, God commands Abraham's grandson Jacob to be fruitful and multiply since he is the father of the twelve tribes of Israel, God' chosen people. Isaiah refers to Israel as God's vineyard with which God was displeased because it brought forth worthless grapes, not good ones. God's solution was to provide Jesus to be the "true vine". Those who choose to connect to and abide in Him will produce good fruit through the power of the Spirit that lives within them. Readers will discover the various fruits that Christians should exhibit. Each of the thirteen chapters ends with six questions intended to promote application and further thought.
